Moving into the basement.. decorating tips?

I cant repaint the walls or carpet so im stuck with gray walls with a purplish blue border.. what kind of unique decorating tips can i use to turn my basement into a great teen bedroom.. I dont want it to look like a basement at all.. I kinda wanted to go with a wild type genie in the bottle theme with lots of beads and sheer fabrics
