Deleting my facebook account?

I so badly want to delete my facebook but my friends are going to be upset with me I know it's our only way of communicating but geez why can't they pick up the phone and dial me once in a while or something? I don't understand the whole obsession about communicating through facebook I mean I still use msn and what not lol. Facebook is getting more and more irritating, my privacy settings keep getting reset and I've had enough!!! Has anyone ever ditched facebook for these reasons I don't want to seem bitter lol
