My ac stopped working?

I have a 98 plymouth grand voyager, The other day i was driving it and i heard a loud squeal i couldn't figure out what it was ( i was driving) then i shut off the blower vents to here it better and it stopped! i turned it back on it was fine until i hit the ac on! then the squealing started again! is it my clutch or compressor or both?
